Coolest aircraft ever built?
My favorites are the F-14 Tomcat Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird Boeing 747-400 series aircraft Airbus A319 (the best Airbus have flown up and down) and A380 (I wish I was a passenger in the new superjumbo!) North American P-51 Mustang (Warbird awesome!) Lockheed P-38 Lightning (the "terrorists" little friend "to the Allies, the Japanese called him" the devil's fork-tailed '!) Messerschmidt ME-262 (even though the enemy used the technology is still quite impressive and WW2 a preview of things to come to the forces of most air!) Boeing China Clippers (first true luxury cruising the sky with a lot of comfort for passengers and they even had cabins bed!) American Jet Harrier jump (STOVL / VTOL, very cool) Boeing 707 Lockheed Constellation (the first airliner built) Douglas DC-3/C-47 Lockheed C-5 Galaxy C-17 Globemaster II (huge) Antonov AN-225 (true!)
God, what a flat bone that is, only one thing though, I think it was the Germans who called the P-38 that. Although the Japanese can, after all downed Yamamoto with her! Me like all the plans that you mentioned too. One not mentioned is the F-16. I just love it's lines. Of course, when one is considering more "cool" plane. I think we should think about the future, JSF, either the F-35 or whatever. Imagine a supersonic, stealth, vertical takeoff and landing, thrust vector, arms locked inside the fuselage to be out of the road steam warplanes.
